Zayn Malik’s debut single ‘Pillow Talk’ has gone to Number One in 60 countries around the world.

The track, which premiered yesterday (January 29), became an instant hit on iTunes and sits on top of the charts globally. The video has already amassed over 9.5m views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.

‘Pillowtalk’ is the first music we’ve heard from the former boy band member since he left the group in March 2015. The video for the song features Malik’s rumoured girlfriend and model Gigi Hadid. Watch in full below.

Malik’s debut solo album ‘Mind Of Mine’ will be released in the spring.

The singer announced the title of his forthcoming album in an interview with Zane Lowe for Beats 1. Malik also said he wrote “46, 47 songs” for the album and that 17 or 18 of those will make the final cut.

Malik revealed in the interview that he has collaborated with R&B singer Kehlani on one of the album’s tracks. “She’s sick,” Malik said. “I love her.

“I’m feeling excited, I’m feeling nervous, I’m feeling happy – I’ve finally got to do what I wanted to do… It’s kind of just like waiting for Christmas,” Malik told Lowe.

In a recent Sunday Times profile, Malik hinted that the tone of the single will be explicit.

“I think I’m pretty black and white about what it’s about. Everybody has sex, and it’s something people wanna hear about. It’s part of everybody’s life, a very BIG part of life! And you don’t wanna sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about,” he said.

Malik also admitted that he had wanted to leave One Direction for some time. “I think I always kind of wanted to go. From like the first year really, I never really wanted to be there in the band. I just gave it a go because it was there at the time,” he said.
