World Chart Airplay 🌎Top 50 of July 1998

July 1998 turned up the heat with a perfect mix of dancefloor bangers, heart-tugging ballads, and unforgettable pop moments 🌞🎶 Let’s count down the 50 biggest songs of the month — from the bottom to the top — and trust us, you’ll want to stick around for that #1 spot 😍🔥

Let’s start with the new entries, which brought a wave of international flair 🌍✨. From the UK, we welcomed the smoky, soulful return of Eric Clapton with “Circus” 🎸, and the ever-charismatic Rod Stewart with “Ooh La La”. Meanwhile, Irish girl group B*Witched made a super fun debut with the cheeky and irresistible “C’est La Vie” 🇮🇪💃.

Across the globe, Australia’s own Natalie Imbruglia followed up her smash hit with the touching “Wishing I Was There” 🇦🇺, while Eros Ramazzotti gave us Italian passion in full swing with “Terra Promessa” 🇮🇹. Meanwhile, Canadian icon Shania Twain appeared twice — with the emotional “You’re Still the One” and the fresh new “When” 🇨🇦.

From the USA, there was no shortage of star power 💥: The Smashing Pumpkins dropped the dark and poetic “Ava Adore”, Will Smith turned charm all the way up with “Just The Two Of Us”, and Aerosmith melted hearts with their epic power ballad “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” (hello, Armageddon! 🚀). Puff Daddy brought the drama on “Come With Me” with a thunderous assist from Jimmy Page, and Janet Jackson kept it sultry on “Go Deep”.

Over in the Latin world, Gloria Estefan lit up the dancefloor with “Heaven’s What I Feel” 💃, and Ricky Martin’s “The Cup of Life” was still the anthem heard around the world ⚽🔥.

On the pop and rock side of things, there was so much to love 💫. The Corrs made a dreamy debut with “Dreams”, Brandy & Monica gave us drama and harmony in “The Boy Is Mine”, and Garbage turned it up with the edgy “Push It”. The legendary Celine Dion appeared twice — still charting with her Titanic hit “My Heart Will Go On” and the new, elegant duet “Immortality” with the Bee Gees 🎻🌟.

Climbers made big waves this month! Alanis Morissette’s moody “Uninvited” gained steam, Eagle-Eye Cherry’s “Save Tonight” kept flying higher, and K-Ci & JoJo’s wedding classic “All My Life” stayed strong 💖. Simply Red floated into the top 3 with their soulful “Say You Love Me”, and The Tamperer feat. Maya had us moving nonstop with “Feel It” — a certified dance smash 🕺🏽💃🏼.

At #2, in a stunning leap from near the bottom, Lutricia McNeal dazzled with her silky R&B gem “Stranded” — proof that great songs always rise to the top 🌈✨

And finally… 🥁 taking the crown at #1 this month is the one and only Madonna 👑. Her electronic reinvention on “Ray of Light” has fully landed — shooting up from #15 to the top spot in a glorious cosmic blast 💥🌠. Energetic, spiritual, and ahead of its time, it was more than a hit — it was a moment.
