Kelly Rowland is making progress on her untitled, fifth solo album. In fact, the singer tells ABC Radio that she’s recorded nearly 50 tracks so far for the follow-up to 2013’s Talk a Good Game.
“I’ve recorded 45 songs to be completely honest, the challenge for me right now is solidifying like exactly what sound that is, I have three different sounds on the table,” she says. “So I just want to know what that is and I feel like I have two albums…that’s not cool, I just need one.”
Last year, Rowland teased a bouncy song called “Dumb,” but is this the direction she’s heading in? Rowland reveals that sonically her project will stay close to her R&B roots.
“It’s definitely more R&B and to the core of even the dance music, it’s still soul and that’s the core of who I am, is my soul, and I always want that to come across,” she says
Rowland also promises to release new music next month, adding, “I’m actually gearing up for a video right now, actually in rehearsals for a video right now I’m excited about. There’s going to be a video.” She coyly adds that it will entail “much movement.”
While she continues working on the album, we will see Kelly on her BET reality-based show, titled Chasing Destiny, which premieres April 5 at 10 p.m. ET.
