Back in October, Rolling Stone reported that Jackson had to postpone a few concerts so that she could rest her vocal cords. Jackson tweeted the news to her fans, saying she was going to be alright.
“Hey you guys, I must rest my vocal chords. Doctor’s orders… Will be rescheduling Salt Lake and Denver. (cont)”
Yet, according to Rolling Stone, Janet Jackson is once again postponing concerts from her Unbreakable World Tour. She made the announcement on Twitter.
“Hey you guys… Happy Holidays to each and every one of you. I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring. Every date will be rescheduled. Please hold on to your tickets. They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced. Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time. There will be no further comment. I love you all so much and am ever grateful for your understanding and your love. Gon’ b alright.”
It is not yet clear if the reason for the newest round of postponements is due to the same illness that plagued Jackson back in October, but rumors have begun to circulate that the singer has throat cancer.
“Remember… believe it when you hear it from my lips. The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I’m recovering. My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled. Thank you for your prayers and love.”
Despite Janet Jackson’s denial of having cancer, a source has revealed to Yahoo! Health that Jackson’s doctors have found a growth on her vocal cords.
“Doctors found a growth on Janet’s vocal cords that could be serious.”
Doctor Miriam Lango has told Yahoo! Health that if Janet Jackson does have cancer, it could be devastating depending on the involvement of the vocal cords.
“If only the throat is affected, the voice may be relatively well preserved with treatment. But with vocal cord involvement, it may be more difficult to preserve vocal function at the level demanded of professional singers or entertainers.”
Janet Jackson is definitely a fine entertainer. After all, she is a Jackson. She is also well-known and loved by many. The Guardian reports that Pat Cox said Jackson gave him the nickname “Party Pat” when talking about his celebrity clients.
“Michael Jackson’s people faxed me an outline of his foot; we did the shoes for the Scream video – in fact it was Janet Jackson that first called me ‘Party Pat’. She said: ‘I like your style – wherever you go there’s a party.’”
Plus, despite the fact that Unbreakable is her first album release in seven years, PPCorn reports that Janet Jackson is getting rave reviews.
“The first song from Janet in five years hits a home run without any delay and places her in the correct setting to adequately sustain interest until the first single attacks the airwaves later this summer. Not to mention, ‘No Sleeep,’ has all of the exquisiteness of her biggest R&B hits records.”
Let’s hope Janet Jackson is unbreakable.
