About This Release

Vanguard 01/05 captures the remarkably diverse sound of American radio in early 2001. This promotional compilation showcases the broad spectrum of music being serviced to U.S. radio stations, reflecting an era when multiple radio formats coexisted and flourished.

The disc features an eclectic selection of Adult Contemporary, Hot AC, Top 40, Alternative Rock, Active Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Triple A (AAA) releases. Collector’s Note

This release features OutKast during a pivotal stage of their career. By early 2001, the Atlanta duo had already earned critical acclaim with albums such as Aquemini and Stankonia, helping redefine Southern hip-hop on a global scale. Just a few years later, they would achieve worldwide success with the landmark album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, making this promotional CD a snapshot of one of hip-hop’s most influential acts before their biggest commercial breakthrough.
