José José’s real name was José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz, and he was born on February 17, 1948, in Mexico City, Mexico. During the 1970s and 1980s, he became one of the most famous artists in Latin music, known for his romantic style and ability to interpret ballads with great feeling.

José José began singing professionally in nightclubs in Mexico City at the age of 15. In 1969, he released his first album titled “Cuidado”. However, it was his second album release in 1970, “La Nave del Olvido”, that catapulted him to fame across Latin America. Since then, he produced a variety of successful albums such as “El Triste”, “Gavilán o Paloma”, and “Amar y Querer”.

José José received numerous awards and recognitions, including a Billboard Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award and six Latin Grammy Awards throughout his career. Additionally, he ventured into acting and made appearances in numerous films and soap operas.

Throughout much of his life, José José struggled with health issues and addiction, but he was always admired for his talent and ability to connect with his audience through his music. He passed away on September 28, 2019, at the age of 71, leaving behind a musical legacy cherished by fans worldwide.
