MTV EUROPE TOP 20 – January 1994 🔥 | The Biggest Hits of the Month!
The year had just begun, and MTV Europe was already blasting the biggest hits of 1994 across the continent. This countdown brings you back to January 1994, almost halfway through the decade, when Eurodance, R&B, pop ballads, and rock anthems collided in the most glorious way.
We start off at #20 with the energetic “Get-A-Way” by German dance group Maxx, and keep the beat going at #19 with Aerosmith’s unforgettable power ballad “Cryin’.” Phil Collins lands at #18 with his introspective single “Both Sides of the Story,” and at #17 we get the all-star trio of Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart & Sting with the epic “All For Love.”
Things get even more interesting at #16 with Enigma’s hauntingly spiritual “Return to Innocence,” followed by the unmistakable sound of the Pet Shop Boys at #15 with “I Wouldn’t Normally Do This Kind of Thing.” One spot higher, Snoop Doggy Dogg makes a powerful debut with “What’s My Name?”, marking a big moment for American hip hop on European charts.
In the mid-chart zone, we find groovy R&B like Zhané’s “Hey Mr. DJ” (#12), dancefloor staples like Urban Cookie Collective and Cappella, and pop royalty Janet Jackson rising to #5 with her beautiful ballad “Again.” The top 10 also welcomes Take That at #8 with “Babe,” their emotional pop hit, and Haddaway with the passionate “I Miss You.”
As we climb to the top 3, the eurodance anthem “Anything” by Culture Beat makes a strong new entry, while Ace of Base continues their global takeover at #2 with “The Sign.” But sitting steady at #1… is none other than Bryan Adams with “Please Forgive Me,” a heartfelt power ballad that topped the charts across Europe.
