🎶 MTV Europe TOP 20 – January 1994 | Bryan Adams, Enigma, Ace of Base & More!
Welcome to February 1994, the second month of a musical year in Europe — and almost halfway through the iconic 90s decade! This month’s MTV Europe Top 20 chart is a wild ride across pop, dance, rock, reggae, and hip hop — featuring newcomers, global icons, and unforgettable anthems that defined a generation.
Kicking off the list we have fresh new entries that made a bold impression this month. Songs like “It’s Alright” by East 17, “In Your Room” by Depeche Mode, “Twist and Shout” by Chaka Demus & Pliers, and the Eurodance anthem “Let the Beat Control Your Body” by 2 Unlimited brought new energy to the charts. Also new this month are Phil Collins with “Everyday,” Magic Affair with “Omen III,” Jam & Spoon feat. Plavka with “Right In The Night,” and the American party hit “Whoomp! (There It Is)” by Tag Team.
Dance music was at its peak in early ’94, with hits like “U Got 2 Let The Music” by Cappella, “Get-A-Way” by Maxx, and Culture Beat’s “Anything” continuing their dominance. Meanwhile, Haddaway held strong with “I Miss You”, and 2 Unlimited returned to the top 20 with another energetic banger. These tracks were the soundtrack of nightclubs, raves, and bedroom cassette players all over Europe.
Pop and rock fans also had plenty to enjoy. Take That’s emotional ballad “Babe” climbed the charts, while Bryan Adams showed his staying power with “Please Forgive Me” and an even bigger smash at #1 — “All For Love”, his superstar collaboration with Rod Stewart and Sting. And don’t miss Janet Jackson’s soulful “Again”, or Meat Loaf’s theatrical epic “I’d Do Anything For Love” still going strong.
Rounding out the chart, we saw strong performances from international acts like Enigma, climbing high with the ethereal “Return to Innocence”, and Snoop Doggy Dogg, whose “What’s My Name?” brought a touch of West Coast rap to European airwaves. And at #3, Swedish pop sensation Ace of Base held firm with their global hit “The Sign”.
